Installing Software and Modules

While there is a large amount of software available on the cluster, you may have a need to install your own software or have a different version available that would normally conflict with the system version. You are free to install into your home or project directory for use.

Installing General Software

Please check in Provided Software before installing your own software - it may already be available for your use.

You can install binaries into any directory you have write permission on, though there are a few things you may want to keep in mind:

  • If the software is only for you, consider making a directory called 'bin' in your home directory to store the software
  • If the software is to be shared with multiple people, request some project space and you can share your software from that location
